You are all the colors in one, at full brightness π
Assalamualaikum & Hi readers,
Happy new year to everyone!π
All The Bright Places from Jennifer Niven had been chosen as my last reading for 2022 and first reading 2023. Gladly I finished read this book before
we enter February π.
This book is about Finch, who always have an ideation to
commit suicide and Violet, who tried to jump from the building once because of
trauma that she faced by losing her sister, Eleanor. It just like a fate, when Finch
meet Violet at their high school bell tower (both tried to jump, but end up
become heroin scene). Through school project, Finch partnered with Violet by visiting
‘Wonder Places’ around the Indiana, to help Violet to faced the world again
after learning her sister accident. End up, Violet able to accept the reality
& fall in love with each other πHowever, Finch still mentally struggling
without telling it to anyone. (Sorry for no spoiler. Read the book first π)
What I learned from this book:
- How the authors pictures what actually happens in the mind of a person who struggling with mental illness. Finch got a lot of monologs when he struggling and desired to commit suicide. A person who experienced this may look normal on the outside, but they are struggling with himself (like Finch). This scene creates an awareness about mental health issue for a lot of people who still not understand.
- Support, understanding & caring from the family members and people that we love is crucial in our daily lives. I can feel Violet’s frustration with Finch’s family when they treat Finch absenteeism as a normal thing and never look for him even though Violet can feel this actions is such a RED flag and need to seen ASAP. They don’t even bother to go inside Finch room when Finch having a slight meltdown. I know, we cant totally blame the family because Finch never share it to his family and he seems to be ‘normal’ like rebellious teenagers π.
After all, family is the only thing we have and loving ourselves first is essential ❗
See you again ✌
p/s: BTW, I had watched the movie and disappointed π. Sorry to the fans π
